Since the 1970s, the United States Department of Agriculture has been telling us to avoid cholesterol and fat to reduce our risk for heart disease. Back then, heart disease was the number one cause of death for Americans. But after decades of adjusting our diet –cutting eggs, butter, lard, and red meat—heart disease is still the number one killer in America, and new studies show, eating fat my not be the cause.
