Longtime UIC professor: Making campus safer 'is not a big mystery'

UIC professor William O'Neill, who has worked at the university for 49 years, wants administrators  to address security issues in both residential and non-residential buildings.


William O’Neill, a bioengineering professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, is urging university administrators to address the safety concerns of faculty and students. The school has beefed up security after a sexual assault occurred in a dorm in late March. However O’Neill and some students are still concerned with issues such as poor lighting on campus.
