Research shows that high-visibility enforcement reduces drunken driving fatalities by up to 20 percent, law enforcement officials say.

As part of a nationwide campaign, Chicago and Illinois State Police will be setting up roadside checkpoints around the state over the holiday weekend. Officers will be looking for not only drunken drivers but also drivers who are speeding, texting and not wearing a seat belt.
