With bitter-cold winters, gridlock traffic and ridiculously bad sports teams, Chicago is a miserable place to live … or is it?

Chicago has taken a beating from Forbes by consistently making the publication’s “Most Miserable Cities” list. Among the nation’s 200 largest metropolitan areas, the city has made the magazine's Top 10  since the list was launced five years ago. Forbes frequently cites Chicago for its violent crime, high sale tax and long commutes … not to mention its loveable losers, the Cubs.

Despite Chicago’s reccurring spot on the list, Chicagoans assert that they not miserable. Many note the positive aspects of the city that Forbes’ has overlooked, including the unique food, the beautiful views of the lake and the variety of entertainment venues. For these Chicagoans, the city is a perfectly fine place to live.

Les Miz in Chicago? Not so much, Forbes.
